Stephen Harrison brings over 45 years of dedicated service to New Zealand’s education sector. With 37 of those years spent as a school principal, his leadership has shaped schools across Canterbury—from small rural U1 schools to large urban U6 environments.
Stephen is best known for his 25-year principalship at Cotswold School in Christchurch, where his calm, effective leadership and deep commitment to students, staff, and community earned widespread respect. He also served as Co-Lead Principal for the Tōtaranui Kāhui Ako (2017–2023), supporting collaboration and innovation across schools.
His background includes leadership advisory roles, mentoring, and involvement in principal induction and development. He has held regional leadership positions and worked extensively with the UC Education Plus Appraisers Team and an NZSTA Endorsed Consultant (2017 - 2021) for both principal appraisals and appointments.
Stephen combines practical experience with a strategic mindset, offering a unique blend of empathy, professionalism, and insight that supports educational leaders and Boards to make confident, informed decisions.
